Troy, Michigan — Katherine Greig, a devoted educator and cherished member of the Troy community, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, compassion, and love for her family and students.
Born and raised in Madison Heights, Michigan, Katherine pursued her passion for education at Saginaw Valley State University, earning a degree in Education that laid the foundation for her lifelong career in teaching. She also attended Wayne State University and was a proud alumna of Lamphere High School. Her commitment to learning and fostering growth extended beyond her own achievements, shaping the lives of countless students throughout her career.
Katherine spent many years as a teacher at Lakeview Public Schools, where she was widely admired for her ability to inspire young minds. Colleagues and former students recall her classrooms as places of curiosity, kindness, and encouragement, where she not only taught lessons in academics but also nurtured confidence, compassion, and a love of learning. Her influence on students’ lives is remembered as enduring and profound.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Katherine’s personal life was marked by devotion to her family. She shared 25 years of marriage with her husband, a partnership that began after seven years of dating in their youth. Together, they built a life grounded in love, laughter, and mutual support. Her family was central to her life, and she is survived by her sister, Dorothy Pagenkopf; cousin, Kelly Dolinski Stoker; mother-in-law, Elisa Greig; and other cherished family members, including Diane Naugle and Daniel Greig. Friends and loved ones remember Katherine for her warmth, generosity, and quiet strength—qualities that left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
A Memorial Mass honoring Katherine’s life will be announced in the coming days.
